Billion Baby Turtles
Supporting important turtle nesting beaches around the world
Six out of seven species of sea turtles around the world are endangered or threatened due to poaching, getting caught in fishing gear, plastic pollution, and many other reasons. We support important turtle nesting beaches around the world where human activities such as egg consumption threaten sea turtle populations.
Billion Baby Turtles supports turtle nesting beaches around the world through small grants. We focus on community-based and oriented projects that both help keep nesting turtles and hatchlings safe from illegal hunting and help provide jobs for local residents to work in sea turtle conservation.
To date, we have provided more than 200 grants totaling over US $900,000 that has helped to save more than 9 million endangered turtle hatchlings at 60+ beaches in 25 countries. These grants support more than 150 local jobs.
